Ancuța Bodnar and Simona Radiș proved in 2022 that they are among Romania’s most valuable sportswomen. The two won the gold medals in the women’s double rowing event at the World Championships in the Czech Republic, which took place in Racice.

In great shape, Bodnar and Radiş led the race from one end to the other, winning with a time of 06 min 47 sec 77/100. For Ancuța, the performance was a special one, given that he turned 24 on the day of the final in Racice, and he received a cake on the podium. The silver went to the Dutch Roos De Jong and Laila Youssifou (06:51.02), while the bronze was awarded to the Irish Sanita Puspure and Zoe Hyde (06:52.81).

“We train the strategy from home! We don’t go to the competition to invent anything new. What we trained at home we try to do at the competition. It always worked out for us because we trained hard and always knew what we wanted. Our tactic is to start determined, get into the rhythm of the race and then climb the finish. If the opponents want to stay next to us, they have to push hard on the pace of the race”, confessed Ancuța Bodnar, for ProSport.
