Learning to prioritize: key to psychological well-being

  • Prioritizing the important over the urgent is the habit of personal management and is achieved through tools for using time effectively. If we organize our working, personal, academic and economic life, we obtain mutual benefit in our relationship with other individuals.
  • Since humans are social, effective communication is essential because it consists of understand each other and be clear when sending a message. In this communication process, the individual generates interdependence, because he feeds on the knowledge and experiences of others.

3. Plan your time and set priorities

Effectively organizing time will be the key to achieving goals and meeting the dimensions of psychological well-being. Time is a variable that is not controlled, but yes there are tools that allow us to manage it efficiently.

It sets priorities for achieving a goal, determines what is important versus what is urgent: what is important are the tasks that will enable satisfactory results in achieving the goals, and what is urgent is the immediate completion of the tasks.

One way to prioritize is to do a list of tasks where you can view your goal and the steps to achieve it. In all aspects of the individual, goal setting is essential because it will allow us to understand the progress in the pursuit of psychological well-being.

Tools for organizing time

Time is characterized by being inexorable, indispensable, atypical, fair and inelastic. It is what determines the actions of the individual and cannot be controlled, but can manage their distribution.
