A woman broke into Robert De Niro’s Upper East Side apartment, police said. The young woman tried to steal the presents placed under the Christmas tree.
The woman recently broke into a rented house where actor Robert De Niro was staying and tried to steal items from the home, according to police, cited by Reuters.
Upper East Side police officers saw the woman, Shanice Aviles, 30, enter the home on 65th Street between Lexington and Park Avenues around 2:45 a.m.

Aviles entered through a basement door that had visible signs of forced entry.
When officers followed Aviles into the home, they discovered her attempting to steal property, according to police.
According to ABC News, the woman was seen in the home stealing presents from under the Christmas tree. Hearing the commotion, De Niro came down the stairs. The police didn’t know it was his house until he showed up.
The woman was wanted in connection with six other burglaries
Aviles was arrested and is expected to be arraigned Monday night or Tuesday morning.
According to ABC News, police were looking for Aviles because she was wanted in connection with 6 other burglaries. Police sources described her as a repeat offender, having been arrested for seven burglaries in the Upper East Side’s 19th Precinct alone between November 25 and December 8.
