How to clean the aquarium correctly?

- Spread the clean towel around the tank to absorb any spilled water. Put more towels around if one is insufficient.
- Very carefully, remove all ornaments from the fish tank and clean them with the help of a sponge and warm running water.
- Be sure to remove any algae debris they may have. Do not use abrasive cleaners as residue can remain inside the ornament and harm fish. The chemicals in utensil cleaning soaps are toxic to your fish.
- Clean the inside glass of the aquarium using an algae scraper. Move up and down slowly. Use the rougher side of the scraper first, then go over with the smooth side.

- Wash the aquarium at least once a week.
- Do not use bleach or soaps of any kind as you may poison the fish.
- If you see algae growing in your aquarium, you need to clean it immediately.
- Use your aquarium cleaning tools for that use only. Otherwise, you may be introducing bacteria that can harm your fish.
- There are some fish known as “cleaner fish” (such as corronchos) which eat debris floating in the water. Before introducing them, make sure they are compatible with the fish already in your tank.
- Make sure that the new water you are going to introduce is of the same temperature as that already in the tank, to prevent the fish from suffering thermal shock.
- It is important to know that the more fish there are in an aquarium, the faster the water will get dirty.
