Young environmental activist Greta Thunberg said at an event to launch her book that she will not attend the COP27 UN summit, which began in Egypt. Thunberg motivated the decision taken by the lack of trust in political leaders.

Ever since she attacked world leaders at a United Nations (UN) conference in 2018, when she was just 15 years old, Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg has been listening to the international community.

Now the young activist says she will miss next week’s COP27 UN climate summit in Egypt. Why? Because it is full of “green washing”.

“I’m not going to COP27 for several reasons”

“I am not going to the COP27 summit for several reasons, but the space for civil society is extremely limited this year. COPs are mainly used as an opportunity for leaders and people in power to gain attention, using many different types of ecological washing”, Thunberg said at a press event for his book, The Climate Book, quoted by The Guardian.

Finally, according to Greta Thunberg, the COP conferences “are not really meant to change the whole system” and instead only promote incremental changes.
